Discover the Hedgehog waterfalls during a 3-hour hike (7.4 km round trip with 250 m elevation gain).
All along the trail, caves and remains of dwellings or workshops using hydraulic power are still visible.

- From le top of the Hérisson waterfalls, Saut Girard Parking - Lac d'Ilay, à The, commune of Chaux-du-dombief:
You will start by discovering the first waterfall: the Girard Jump, with a height of 35 meters. After having bypassed the guest room/snack bar where you will find public toilets, you will follow the Hedgehog to descend its course to the two most spectacular waterfalls: the big jump (60m) and the Fan waterfall (65m=).
Extend and complete your day with a visit to the House of Waterfalls, a museographic space allowing you to understand the site, to understand the geology of the Jura and to leave with wonderful memories !
From le bottom of the Hérisson waterfalls:
- Meet at the Maison des Cascades at a place called Val Above, 39130 Ménétrux-en-Joux.
You will be 5 minutes walk from the largest waterfall: the Eventail waterfall. Easily accessible, it will be a place conducive to little walkers ou busy visitors. You can then access its high point to continue the route until the Grand Saut and so on. Arrival point at the top of the waterfalls: Girard Jump, with a height of 35 meters.
Please note for exploring the site:
● Swimming is prohibited in the Hérisson Waterfalls,
● Dogs are accepted, kept in leave alone,
● Be shod correctly, some passages may be slippery,
● Stay on the marked trails,
● Summer and winter, do not walk in the watercourse, it is a fragile habitat and the refuge of many sensitive species,
● Do not build no cairns (stone mounds) in order to preserve the original appearance of the site and its micro-habitats.
● La Maison des Cascades provides a few baby carriers.
In order to guarantee the landscape beauty of the site, few trash cans are installed along the route. We count on you to take care of your waste and participate in the site preservation.
