Set off to discover the “upper” part of the Hérisson waterfalls during an easy, family-friendly walk of 1 hour / 1 hour 15 minutes.
Park at the Saut Girard - Lac d'Ilay car park , in the hamlet of Ilay in the commune of La Chaux-du-Dombief.
From the parking lot, follow the signs for Cascades du Hérisson along the gravel path opposite the parking lot, next to the wooden chalet. There are a few benches along the path where you can take a break. You will soon reach Saut Girard , the first of the Cascades du Hérisson.
You can approach the waterfall via a metal footbridge accessible by wheelchair/stroller, and have some refreshments at the snack bar.
Go around this guest house/snack bar to follow the Hérisson to the Moulin Jeunet.
Then head towards the Hameau La Fromagerie , where you can choose to visit the Frasnois Botanical Area or buy souvenirs and wooden objects from the Jura at the Boissellerie du Hérisson.
Return to the starting point in the Saut Girard - Lac d'Ilay car park via the pedestrian path, created parallel to the main road, in complete safety.
