The Zed Jurassien is a 124 km online mountain bike route, fully signposted. It begins in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux (approximately 1 m above sea level) and ends at either Arc et Senans or Mouchard. In Haut-Jura, the route takes small paths and single tracks to Foncine-le-Haut before continuing in the Haute Vallée de la Saine, a classified tourist site. After passing through the Langouette gorges and the Ain losses, 000 major sites in the “Jura Monts Rivières” territory, the Zed crosses Champagnole, gateway town to the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park. The route then joins Poligny, capital of the County, through the national forests of Montrond and Molain. From Poligny, the Zed joins Arbois, Capital of Jura Wines, in the heart of the Vineyard, crossing the remote areas, with impressive viewpoints, of Poligny and Arbois. The route then plunges towards Salins-les-Bains, one of the 2 spa towns of the department which is also home to the Grande Saline de Salins, a UNESCO world heritage site. The Zed ends gently by the Gabelous path then into the Loue valley from where the route leaves 2 end options: Mouchard or Arc-et-Senans known for its Royal Saltworks also listed as a world heritage site. UNESCO. Arc-et-Senans and Mouchard both have a station allowing you to reach the departure town of Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux by the Hirondelles tourist train line.
