Abbey Lake Tour

From THE ABBEY-EN-GRANDVAUX, the route goes up the lane alongside the cemetery (red white marking) towards Les Cernois.

  1. The path rises due south through meadows. At the entrance to the woods, it takes the path on the right, then further on, passes through the middle of a crossroads. Cut a bend in a road, then follow it to the right and join The horns.
  2. Turn right (yellow marking) on a forest path which gradually descends and joins a road, to very quickly find on the right the MILL BELVEDERE.
  3. A path goes down to the right across the meadow. Below a reservoir, turn left onto the road then take a path on the right which goes down to the D 437. Cross carefully and reach the hamlet Sur le Moulin.
  4. Turn right, cross the hamlet and continue the pasture path to come out at Our Lady, on the edge of the lake.
  5. Follow the road to the left (red white marking) which runs along the lake and crosses a sawmill. Continue the road which goes around the south of the lake, pass La Motte and go up to the right via a stony path. Cut the D 146 and follow the road until THE BEZ.
  6. Leave the GR on the left and continue crossing the hamlet (yellow marking) in a small parallel street. To access at the Bouviers and take a road on the left then quickly leave it for a grassy path. Access the small ridge on the left at IMAGE SILO.
  7. Continue to the hamlet Guillons by joining the D 146. You have the possibility of going up to Pardon des Guillons which dominates the hamlet 5 minutes to the left. (yellow markings).

  8. Follow the road and reach the crossroads with the D 437. Turn right and follow a grassy path to get closer to the lake, then left, reach the Prelet. On a round trip, access The Exhaust, Garden of Time and Space, war memorial erected in 2014, work of the American artist Amy O'NEILL 5 ​​minutes on the left.

    Follow the path along the lake until you reach THE ABBEY-EN-GRANDVAUX.

Crossing the road to the hamlet of Bez and Guillons.

This route crosses pastures with livestock, and takes forest paths. Also for the respect of the owners and operators who authorize you to pass, for the peace of livestock and wildlife, you are invited to stay on the marked trails.

Use the passages provided to cross the fences and make sure to close the barriers. Please keep your dog on a leash if you have one.

Wildflowers are beautiful, they can be rare and protected and often wilt quickly. Don't pick them! They will delight future hikers.

In the event of forestry work (felling, skidding, etc.), for your safety, know how to give up and turn around.
