The Pic de l’Aigle belvedere in Chaux-du-Dombief offers magnificent views of the Jura, the Hérisson valley, the Grandvaux and Lake Ilay.
On a clear day, you can see the Mont Blanc massif.
An orientation table set up at the top will allow you to read the 360 ° panorama.
To access Eagle Peak:
- 3 parking lots in the town of La Chaux-du-Dombief : P1, parking shared with the NAJA factory, very spacious, flat and paved; P2, parking at the start of the peak trail, natural; P3 close to P2 and more limited.
From the upper car park of the Pic de l'Aigle (parking P2), the Pic de l'Aigle is indicated by the hiking trail.
Some tips for exploring the site with complete peace of mind:
- Do not overestimate your strength, pay attention to the height difference and the nature of the site: this is a mid-mountain hike
- Equip yourself correctly (walking shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather, bag with water & snacks)
- Stay on marked trails
- Keep your pets on a leash
- Keep distance between you/your children and the void
- Respect the beauty and tranquility of the site: be as discreet as possible, collect your waste and leave the wild flowers for future walkers to see.

You can extend the hike via the ridge to access the belvedere of the 3 lakes then to the belvedere of the 4 lakes : Follow the yellow markings.
The return from the 4 lakes belvedere is:
- via the Bois de Ban forest road then the pastures: follow the direction “return parking du pic”.
Be careful: walkers and cars share the road.

- by descending to the edge of the Maclu lakes then Lake Ilay : follow the markings and directional signs.
This longer loop is aimed at experienced hikers.
